Arunesh Sinha is a Lee Kong Chian Fellow and an Assistant Professor in the School of Computing and Information Systems at Singapore Management University. He received his Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University. Dr Sinha has conducted research at the intersection of security, machine learning and game theory with an emphasis of real world applications for societal good. He was awarded the Bertucci fellowship at CMU. His paper was nominated for the best application paper at the AAMAS 2016 conference and he won the best Demo award at the AAMAS 2021 conference. As examples of practical application, his work on security screening of airport passengers was field tested in an airport screening application by the TSA in USA and he has partnered with a NGO in India to develop a data quality score for health data gathered in rural parts of India, which helps improve the reliability of downstream applications using this health data.

 

Jack Lim

Jack is the Executive Director of SMU Academy and is responsible for the Academy’s mission to equip and empower Singapore’s workforce with the competencies and career resilience required for this era of technological disruption.

 

Jack brings extensive expertise in business development, strategy, business building and transformation from his experience across multiple industries to forge innovative partnerships across the adult learning and training ecosystem. He possesses a wealth of insight and global experience from a 26-year career spanning the education, telecommunications, financial services and professional services sectors. Jack has been a key driver in developing and executing strategies to evolve SMU Academy into one of the top continuing education and training programme provider in Singapore. 

 

Before joining SMU Academy, Jack was the Director of Markets and Partnerships in SMU’s Lee Kong Chian School of Business. He was also previously the Head of Custom Programmes and Client Director in SMU’s Executive Development.

As Vice Provost (Research), Archan leads and coordinates the overall strategic research directions and investments of the university, including its focus on smart cities and improving urban living. Archan has led a number of multi-million-dollar, flagship research initiatives at SMU, including the LiveLabs research center and SMU’s Center for Applied Smart-Nation Analytics (CASA), that have focused on exploiting pervasive sensing for novel smart-city applications, often in close partnership with public agencies and ministries. Archan is a current recipient of the prestigious Investigator grant (from Singapore’s National Research Foundation) for sustainable man-machine interaction intelligence. Over a 20+ year research career spanning both academics and industry (at IBM Research and Bellcore), Archan has published on, and practically deployed, technologies spanning wireless networking, mobile & wearable sensing and urban mobility analytics. Archan holds a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland at College Park, and chaired the IEEE Computer Society's Technical Committee on Computer Communications (TCCC) from 2005-2007.
